As you know, I switch out the display on my dining console every few days. This one has been here two weeks, surprisingly, just because I've been too busy doing other things. Any display using odd numbers such as three or five draws the eye and is more interesting. Here I have used three mediums involving waves. Chairs and table are from Swede Collection. Big baskets from Pottery Barn are hiding the return air vent.
There are waves in the oil painting, the Limoges platter and Vitruvian scroll waves on the console table. They draw the eye forward and down. I am also using three paintings stacked back to front.
The antique French JPL Limoges 24" platter is hand painted with waves and shells. On the back it is dated X-mas 1912 with the initials of the artist and who the gift was given to. It is in mint condition. 1912 was the year my maternal grandparents [Edward N. & Ethel M. Lawyer] got married in Dillon, MT and settled on Ed's homestead on Hayden Creek at Lemhi, Idaho. The date reminds me of them but certainly nothing they would have owned in their log cabin with sod roof.
The vintage California oil on board painting is dated on the back April 1966 and titled Big Sur Coast. It is signed E. [Sam] Rogers. I almost sold this but changed my mind at the last moment. I purchased it on eBay about 10 years ago.
The wave theme will be replaced with something else that takes my fancy this weekend.
