I have passionate love for Weeping Peach trees. This one is what is called "red" but is a deep pink. I wait all winter for my favorite trees to bloom. I know, for a gardener, you shouldn't have such deep favorites, but I can't help it. I discovered Weeping Peach trees late in life. I had never seen one in anyone's yard. I found her in the garden section of Home Depot one day. When I looked at the photo on the hang tag, I knew I had to plant one.
This is a my pink one. I had wanted to do a photoshoot of a tablescape under the branches this year, but alas, it rained and is now too cold. Maybe next year. The white tree on the left is a Yoshino Cherry.
Here is the red Weeping Peach. I planted it in the public Greenbelt behind my house. The Parks and Rec employees decided to give it a severe haircut this summer to keep it from growing into the jogging trail. So she is not as pretty this year as she has been in the past.
This one in the front yard is a regular Ornamental Peach, non-weeping. Although you could say it is a "leaning" Peach. It grew too fast before we could move it so it would stand upright. I hope we do not have to remove it as I absolutely love it. It also is a "red" but the blossom color is deep pink.
Love, love, love this tree.
Another beauty showing her stuff is the Apricot Quince.
Apricot Quince is very show-y in the spring.
Another tree which is blooming late this year from a colder than normal winter is the red Camellia. I purchased standards [tree-form] instead of the bush type.
Camellias to me are prettier than a lot of roses.
The Bleeding Hearts are late this year as well.
Bleeding Hearts bloom in a matter of days from the time they push through the ground in the spring.
Can you believe there are only two plants here?
Here is my baby white Dogwood. Last year he refused to bloom. The tree is probably five or six years old -- very slow growing. A wind storm last fall cut it in half when a large branch fell on it.
We also have Narcissis blooming. I have early, mid and late blooming Daffodils, so a few are still blooming. My favorite is the "double" variety. Doesn't look much like a Daffodil.
Late blooming Narcissis.
And, last a pink Azalea and a fringe shrub that I can't remember the name of.
Hope you are having a colorful spring.
