Frequently I come across a product that I love so much I want to tell everybody about it. I really don't collect baskets, but when I saw this one at Target Stores, I was smitten by the sturdy quality, large size and the sea grass. Baskets seem to propagate at my house on the top of the cabinets in my laundry room. Every so often I release them from captivity at a garage sale.
Yes, I know this looks horrible. One of the things on my list for deep cleaning. My laundry has a lot of cabinets which is great for a dish addict. Of course, they are overflowing!
The deep rectangular size, 18 x 15 x 18.5, is great for a lot of storage, maybe for magazines, beach towels, toys, newspapers, office supplies, etc.
These baskets are made of heavy woven sea grass fiber and have chalkboard tags on two sides so you can label them if you wish. I turn mine around so they don't show because I haven't had the heart to clip the ties that hold them on just yet. I think they would look good in a large mud room with kids' names on them for boots, backpacks, sports equipment, etc.
Here I am using one for storage of interiors magazines in the corner of our living room. You can see the chalk tags, but I usually keep the basket in this room turned around. It actually doesn't look bad with the creme colored leather on the French daybed. I purchased several and have them around the house holding lots of different things. The sea grass did smell somewhat when I got them but that has subsided as they have dried.
Target is one of my favorite stores for a lot of new seasonal things. Their designers and merchandisers seem to be so good at innovative style. If you don't have a Target store nearby, they are item #11188674 at www.target.com. They are made by Smith & Hawkin and well worth the $39.95.
Enjoy!
