I switched up the decoration for the staircase this year. I am using color. Yes, shocking, I know. It has always been white beaded garland with white LED lights for a great glow at night. I did not incorporate lights into this garland. Doing the white also took several hours to get it installed.
Mr. Swede who is in Paris this week [without me] will be in shock right now reading this post wondering what happened to his wife -- did she totally lose her mind? And, what happened to his house? Does he still live there? Well, that is what he gets for going to Paris and leaving me home unattended. Historically, though he should be used to it as many times he has opened the front door and not recognized his house! This is a man who hates change. And he married me -- the constant changer!
Lime, turquoise and silver with two kinds of greenery. Like anything else, it looks better in person than in photos. This took 72 feet of garland. The ornaments are not glass, they are shatterproof plastic. This garland actually goes up pretty fast. My secret is that I use electrical zip ties around the handrails to hold it in place.
I would love to work warm white LED lights into the garland, but not a project for this year. Staircase done. Check. On to the next project.
It isn't easy to see the garland on the second floor as I can't get it all in one photo extending left and right along the balcony. But you get the idea.
