This is the Graben in the Innere Stadt (Inner City or the First District) in Vienna. The Graben begins at Stephansdom (Saint Stephen's Cathedral) and goes right up to Kohlmarkt (the street with the famous designer boutiques), which in turn leads to the Hofburg, or the Imperial Palace. Tourists gravitate to the Graben for its many shops and outdoor restaurants. The large monument in the picture was built to commemorate the liberation from a deadly plague (Pest) that killed many Viennese in the 17th Century. This is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. About a half block away is the delightful Peterskirche (Saint Peter's Church), one of the most extravagant baroque churches in the world.

SO GLAD YOU SHARED!! This is beyond beautiful!! franki
