Saturday I decided it was time to do a fall table. Didn't want it to look quite like Thanksgiving though -- just some game birds and autumn colors. For the centerpiece, I searched the cupboards and could only come up with one fall colored container for the flowers, a Mottahedeh Vista Alegre cachepot that had some burnt orange trim. Here it is with the wet oasis inserted. Note that the foam comes up over the top rim so that stems can be placed hanging down onto the table.
I struggle to keep the height of the arrangement low enough for people to see each other across the table. Restraining the arrangement is unnatural for me as I really like them tall. As I always do, I cut greenery from the shrubs in my front yard instead of buying them.
I thought these Johnson Brothers Game Birds oval plates were very fall looking with the Quail. There are other birds such as Pheasants and Ruffled Grouse in the series as well, but I kinda like the Quail best.
Glassware on the left is an animal print tumbler from Slant and an amber water glass with buttons on the outside. They are from Yurana Designs. Unfortunately they were discontinued before I could get as many as I wanted. On the right is one of a pair of Pheasant statues. The space in the center of the table is too small with the floral arrangement so they get lost and therefore don't contribute much style to the table.
For dessert plates, I am using Spode's Woodland Series bird plates. I like the Red Grouse. My camera read the orange tones in the flowers too bright -- okay electric orange -- and I am not smart enough with photo taking skills to know how to correct it. Electric orange and I are not in love.
