This table is set for guests who spend the weekend. For breakfast the morning after a dinner, I will sometimes use part the same table elements. Here I am using the same tablecloth, chargers, flatware and beverage glasses. I have removed the floral centerpiece and substituted a platter of gourds on top of a hand-made aluminum lazy susan. If it wasn't fall, I use this lazy susan just for a platter of mugs in the center of the table. Since it spins, guests can rotate it to take the beverage mug of their choice.
Mr. Swede likes colorful gourds in the house during the fall season, so he picked all of these at a roadside nursery in Burton, Texas when we were driving home from the Round Top Antique Show. The gourds will last until next summer.
The plates and mugs are Vietri's Foliage pattern. Each plate and mug is a different color with a different leaf shape pattern on it.
The plates are a good size for a pastry and some fruit. There are also matching cereal bowls. I love the peachy tones of the painted earthenware.
Stacks of plates and colorful mugs.
Here is an overview of the table set for six. The gold napkins are from Williams-Sonoma and then embroidered with our monogram at a local shop. I am using the gold plated stainless steel from Ricci which goes from casual to formal.
Niderviller chargers made in France in the color vanilla.
Chunky heavy-duty amber goblet from Indiana Glass is in the Mt. Vernon pattern. It is vintage from the 1960-1970's. I like how sturdy they are as well as the square footed base and they hold a nice amount of liquid which helps me to not have to refill guests glasses as often. The Vietri mugs also are a nice large size.
I am participating in Tablescape Thursday this week on the blog Between Naps on the Porch.

My daughter introduced me to Vietri when she registered the Sorbetto collection...such superb Italian designs. Your tablescape is delightful. I love that Mr. Swede likes to choose gourds for the season. Have you seen the new Vietri goblets in amber, smoke, and acid green. I think that you would find them to be right up you 'eye for design' alley. Thank you for inviting us for a peak at your wonderful design....again. Cherry Kay

How on earth do you get gourds to last for so many months? I have never been able to! They always start to mold on me after a short while. What's your secret? Do I need to keep them on display in a cooler room in the house? LOVE the earthenware...and those napkins!!!
